Buddy Sick Again!

My holiday weekend has been going to the barn every three hours. I went out on Friday afternoon and he hadn't eaten any food. He wasn't looking very good. Luckily the vets were there and they were able to check him. He had a temp or 104.8˚(normal is 99-100) They gave him a bunch of medicine to help break his fever. Later that night his temp was 99.2, I was relieved. The next morning the vets checked him again and his temp was 103.2 again. The blood work came back suggesting a bacterial infection not viral...which was good news. Sat. night he looked better and was starting to eat and drink. This morning his temp was still 101.2, they didn't give him anymore medicine because it's very hard on the kidneys. He's on his second dose of antibiotics. I just got back from the barn tonight and his temp was 99.5....yay....he's starting to get back to his normal self. Poor Buddy, he just has a rough time....the EPM disease has done a number on his immune system which makes him succeptable to anything. Send good energy to Buddy.

Buddy Update

I talked with my trainer yesterday and I guess Buddy's been sore all week. We are going to give him three days off and see how he's doing next week. He hasn't put the saddle on him yet. Keep your thoughts and prayers going. We are not out of the woods yet.

Buddy Says HI

Buddy is doing well. He's on the road to making a full recovery. He has three more weeks of groundwork, two with just the saddle. If all goes well, he should be rideable the first week in June. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.
